ChargeHub 2024: Powering the Growth of the EV Charging Industry

A year of strong connections

From January to November 2024, the EV charging infrastructure across Canada and the USA experienced significant growth, reflecting the industry's rapid evolution. L2 ports increased by nearly 17%, while L3 ports saw an impressive 30.2% growth.

Beyond ports, the number of charging networks also grew significantly, connecting more players across the ecosystem and enhancing accessibility. Canada expanded its charging network substantially with a 34.9% growth, while the USA saw a 38.5% growth, showcasing the continent’s accelerating transition to electric mobility.

In step with the growth of the EV charging ecosystem, ChargeHub reinforced its position through new strategic partnerships. Our #1 EV Roaming Hub Solution footprint grew stronger with each collaboration, bringing the industry closer to a more seamless public EV charging experience for EV drivers :

These partnerships enhance our ability to provide seamless access to the ever-expanding public EV charging infrastructure.

Innovation at the core of charging

In 2024, innovation remained at the heart of ChargeHub’s mission. We proudly celebrated the third anniversary of Passport Hub, North America’s #1 EV roaming solution. Since its launch, Passport Hub has grown exponentially, now enabling more than 170 live roaming connections and seamless compatibility on over 120k charging ports through more than 40 eMSP and CPO partnerships.

This year, Plug & Charge (P&C) reached new heights at the CharIN Testival North America 2024. We delivered a successful end-to-end P&C demo demonstrating the power of seamless, automated EV charging. The event showcased how far we’ve transformed cutting-edge technology into tangible solutions. Our strategic partnership with Irdeto made this breakthrough possible, creating a seamless P&C solution with unparalleled roaming capabilities.

Driving engagement across the EV Sector

About a year ago, ChargeHub, alongside founding partners Electric Circuit and BC Hydro, launched Agora, a new educational initiative. Agora aims to demystify EV roaming and charging network compatibility. The platform allows users to explore network and app compatibility, helping them find the best-suited solution for their needs. With support from key players, Agora unites the industry around a shared vision: simplifying EV charging and accelerating the electrification of transportation through EV roaming.

ChargeHub took part in 12 major industry events across North America and beyond. From launching the EV Charging Experience Barometer at EVVE in Halifax to demonstrating Plug & Charge capabilities at Testival in California, we showcased our expertise and expanded partnerships. We stayed deeply connected to the evolving EV ecosystem.

In addition to attending conferences and expos, ChargeHub also took the stage as a speaker at some key events. At the EV & Charging Expo in Toronto, our CEO, Simon Ouellette, explored the challenges of public charging for fleets, from operational variables to business complexities. Watch his presentation below.

With the growing EV ecosystem, ChargeHub wants to provide insights into charging reliability and identify areas for improvement in North America.  With this goal in mind, we launched the EV Charging Experience Barometer for North America. This quarterly report benchmarks charging reliability based on user feedback across Canada and the U.S. Our analysis categorizes charging attempts into four groups, providing a clear and evolving picture of infrastructure performance.
